Stuff My Sisters Will Like

To Jenny, Katie and Laura, From Their Brother, Victor

Obvious Providence in the Show Me State August 10, 2013

Filed under: Catholicism,Neat,Stuff — Fr. Victor Feltes @ 8:00 am

Whether a deceased saint, or one who hasn’t died yet, this priest was precisely where God wanted him to be when he was needed most, to help a young lady who almost died on her way to Mass.

This reminds me of stories about Fr. Edward Flanagan of Boys Town in Omaha. Sometimes, when troubled boys or girls would arrive very unhappy to be there, he would find them. He would say, “Why not give it a try? Who knows, you might like it!” As a result, they would decide to give the program a try, have their lives transformed, and later see a picture of Fr. Flanagan (who had died in 1948, years before they arrived) and realize it had been him. Why should we think that saints stop caring about what happens down here simply because they have gone to heaven?

Update: Priest identified. Now some will say, “See, God doesn’t exist,” as if this was a new, strong argument.
